The Eskimo Nebula NGC 2329
I took this shot of The Eskimo Nebula just outside of Williams AZ back in November 2010 and had forgotten that I had taken it. This is a Planetary Nebula discovered by William Herschel in 1787. It is 2,870 light years from us and is in the constellation Gemini. To see a better look at this nebula use the link below to the NASA site. It is called the Eskimo Nebula because the core resembles a face and the outer gas layers look like a furry hood you would see an Eskimo wearing. BTW Eskimo people do not like the term Eskimo and are correctly referred to as Canadian Inuits.
